We were gathered at the starting line well before sunrise ready to tackle the first big challenge: reaching CP A. And what a challenge it turned out to be.

To reach CP A, we had to face a 1000m ⛰️ climb. The beginning section was on flats, my comfort zone—but soon enough we’re gonna reach our first climb. Before we knew it, it was all up, uP, and UP. Legs burning, breath heavy , but spirits high.

Thankfully, the weather in Puli over the weekend was perfect—25 degrees ☀️ and dry trails. There were a few slippery sections, but overall, the trail conditions were on our side. And when we finally got close to CP A, we were rewarded with a breathtaking view 🖼️. The sun had risen, bathing everything in golden light. Now we could catch our breath, restock, and refill. There’s fruits, water, salt candy, energy drinks, coke, rice, sausages and good vibes.

beast.run did an amazing job marking the trail. It made navigating through bamboo forests, fallen tree trunks, and narrow paths so much convenient. I only managed to get lost during the final stretch on the flats (of all places!). lsacat0305 and I missed a turn, wandered 200m in the wrong direction, and then had to backtrack—only to have other runners cruise past us. Haha! 😂 The rest of that stretch was all about clawing our way back to regain those spots.

But nothing compared to the 10km downhill straight to HELL. Going downhill is a skill all of its own. Ask my toes they will attest to that. Haha 😂

When we finally hit the flats, I was so relieved. 🙏 Also I got a boost of energy from two local kids handing out Pocari and cheering for every runner passing by. From there, it was all about picking up speed and making it to the finish line.

It was also cool to see montreal.athletes.club crew cheering on everyone as they arrived at the finish.

And it’s great to see Formosa Trail drawing a global crowd from Japan, Korea and Singapore.
